Happy holidays! Merry Christmas! Celebrate Whatever! I’m doing amazingly, things are working out. At this point in my life, I’m making snowballs. But soon you will see a full snowman, if you get my metaphor! I’m excited for Christmas to roll around because then I’ll get to meet my brother’s girlfriend for the first time. And especially see my whole family together in one house. I absolutely love that feeling and miss those days.
The moleskine pages above are all I could accomplish in the three days of my visit. In it, i talk about I visiting my grandmother last week, and also got to go on a date with my friend Heather (I’ve posted earlier about how I stalk her). We went on an adventure through the Griffith Observatory and saw this huuge telescope among other things. I wish I got more drawing done, but I was having so much fun that the only place I could find time to draw was on the planes to and from Los Angeles. Heather took a photo of the observatory at night, too. It’s absolutely stunning.

I spent 20 hours in any airport from Sunday morning to Monday morning. It takes a lot to break me down from my fun and happy demeanor, and getting zero sleep while trying to leave a place is the thing that will destroy me. But I had my Moleskine as usual to document the weekend. So here it is, the fourth chapter to my travelogue. I’m almost done filling it up (and then I could buy a new book!). Read it here!

Click the image above to read “New York Bagel”!
New York is a magnificent place. Can you believe that I went there for the first time ever?? I had a blast with my classmates, Ben Frisch, Amber Gant, Lilly Higgs, Caleb Soloman, and Dean of SCAD: John Lowe. It was a brilliant week, felt longer than 8 days, and it’s too bad I won’t be back for a long long time. I kept a log of it in my sketchbook. It’s filled with visits to plenty of professional offices and practicing artists, including:
- Mickey Duzyj
- Rebekah Isaacs (whose name I spelt wrong throughout my journal, SORRY!)
- Cliff Chiang
- Paulo Rivera (whose name has a ‘o’ in place of the ‘u’. Gawrsh, I’m a great journalist).
- R. Kikuo Johnson
- Sean Chen
- Peter Kuper
- DC Comics
- Marvel Comics
- First Second Books
- ….and more!
- Special thanks to my great friend Alyssa and her family for housing me for a period of time (she’s in the journal for a bit, too). Hope you enjoy these 20-24 pages of my vacation/class!

I’m back in the U.S., with lots of energy and brand new things to share with you! Spring quarter is coming soon, and before that happens, I thought I’d stop here first and let you know what has been happening and where I’ve been. This week I was in Thailand, and I kept a journal during my trip. There are a whopping 17 pages of art and words up online, and will be available anytime in the Other Comics section. Enjoy, and let me know what you think!
You can read it by clicking here.
