Wednesday, July 1st, 2009Fall 2009 should have some promising new comics. I don’t even know if it will be Headlines & Punchlines, as I’ve got some mad cool ideas for other stuff. Keep it real!
The Only Lady Star Trekkin’
Tuesday, May 12th, 2009Star Trek was ana amazing movie. I enjoyed it greatly. I seriously doubted that this summer would not be as great as 2008′s summer movie line-up. But Star Trek really did leave its mark, and I think it is far better than Iron Man. All I hear is good things about this movie, no complaints whatsoever. Nobody had any issue with this movie after seeing it, and I can’t remember a single moment that I was not having a good time.
There was no escaping from doing a Star Trek comic. I wanted to do something on Wanda Sykes bashing Limbaugh this weekend, but it seemed too contrived to get a joke from. The real fun is the actual story. Sometimes I try to find an already funny story to joke on, but I have to let the story just be funny on its own. The real work is finding funny in the serious stories. I want to work on that much more.
Round-up for the week:
- The H&P: District Edition this week features Miss California. Half Naked.
- Brett Muller had some guest comics drawn this past week. Check out the archives for the previous guest strips. I should also mention that Kevin Burkhalter just finished a similar event in his “Friends of February” comics.
- I’m totally digging Jarrett Williams revamped site. It’s design really makes me want to read from the very beginning of Lunarboyland.
Stripping Miss California
Monday, May 11th, 2009You might have seen this on The District website. Every week I draw two comics, one for the District and one for JeremyWinsLife.com. Because of the subject of my strip, and how relevancy plays a role in the gag, I sometimes spend Monday nights from 7pm – midnight making the comic. It’s tough to make two comic strips in 5 hours. The guys over at Webcomics Weekly always offer advice in keeping a buffer, comics that are done ahead of time and scheduled to go up when you can’t make a deadline. Again, due to the nature of these strips, that isn’t really applicable. So there just isn’t a new strip this week.
These next two weeks are my finals. I’ve also been moving into a house and preparing for the summer by looking into some jobs. Thanks for the patience and continued patronage!
I also wrote an awesome article for the District, with lots of pictures of beautiful, well-dressed SCAD students.
